NEW DELHI, India -- Doctors in India performed delicate surgery to remove an iron bar that impaled a man during a car wreck.
The iron rod, which was 5 feet long and 2 inches wide, pierced the man's chest when his car rammed into a construction site.
The 23-year-old man survived and was taken to the hospital 90 minutes after being impaled.
The lead surgeon said it took 15 minutes to remove the bar and the rest of the surgery was spent repairing organs.
The man must stay in the hospital for 10 to 12 days, doctors said.
